Founder, Instructor
Ishana Shukla is a PhD student in Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology. She holds an MSc and has previously given workshops and taught courses on professional skills in STEM, field safety, and incorporating inclusive practices in a work setting. Her research primarily focuses on the coexistence between reintroduced predators, local communities, and existing wildlife. She is interested in revealing the "hidden curriculum" for participating in research, which especially affects underrepresented minority students and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
Instructor
Rob Furrow is an Assistant Professor of Teaching in Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology. He teaches a wide range of STEM courses, including introductory biology, introductory statistics, data literacy, natural history, and behavioral ecology. He has performed research in topics including evolutionary modeling, human cultural evolution, bird vocalizations during migration, but he now focuses on education research about how students best learn introductory and quantitative material and how instructors can create effective, inclusive learning environments. He is invested in helping all of his students identify and build skills for meaningful and exciting careers.
